Author Biography

Charles H. Brandes is the founder and one of five managing partners of San Diego-based Brandes Investment Partners, L.P., a leading manager of domestic, global, and international equity portfolios. Founded in 1974, Brandes Investment Partners manages over $10 billion of assets for institutional and private clients. The firm's portfolios have consistently outperformed the markets throughout its history and have produced results ranked among the top in the world. Mr. Brandes is responsible for directing the management of the firm and overseeing the Investment Committee. Early in his career, Mr. Brandes became an acquaintance of Benjamin Graham, the originator of the value approach to investing. He was able to learn firsthand how the "Dean" of value investing discovered bargain securities, and became a disciple of value investing. As a member of the Investment Committee, Mr. Brandes uses his expertise in value investing to guide the portfolio review process. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and has 29 years of investment experience.
