Author Biography
Christine Barnes is the Senior Consultant and Historian for the PBS television series, Great Lodges of the National Parks, four one-hour features launched by her award winning book, Great Lodges of the West. That book won the 1998 Benjamin Franklin Best History Award. In 2000 her book, Great Lodges of the Canadian Rockies, was a finalist for the Best History Award. Her writing appears regularly in national magazines and major newspapers. She was the features editor for the Oakland Tribune and San Francisco Examiner before beginning her career as a writer of nonfiction books. Christine, a Colorado native, is a graduate of Northwestern University. She lives in Bend, Oregon, with her husband, Jerry Fred Pflughoft has a keen eye for beauty developed over twenty years as a professional watercolor artist. In 1988 he turned his talents to photography and is now recognized as one of America's outstanding nature photographers. His work appears in national magazines, calendars and postcards. Fred is the featured photographer in the Wild and Beautiful photo book series on Wyoming, Oregon, and Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks. He owns Wilderness Creations, a stock photo company. Fred lives in Pinedale, Wyoming, close to the national parks he loves David Morris has a wonderful understanding of lighting for indoor photography. This expert know-how produced, with Fred, the exceptional lodge interior images in this book, Great Lodges of the West and Great Lodges of the Canadian Rockies. He is an excellent landscape photographer as well, with his nature photos appearing throughout those books, and in many national magazines. David's photographs have been selected for Sierra Club and Audubon Society calendars. He has a B.S. degree in geology from Washington State University and a B.A. in photography from Brooks Institute of Photography. David is a resident of Bend, Oregon
